Push Notifications

You asked for it, and we built it into the new 1.9 update! In close collaboration with our TeamONE engineers, we are proud to announce Push Notifications from your Shelby to the TeamONE mobile app. Simply allow your appliance to enroll in notifications and let your devices talk to you!

Shelby Profiles

We have added support for the Dual Axis Kinetix Drives complete with a device display for common parameters and tabs for KPIs per axis.
Enet enabled devices will now show an available speed value in a value box.

Device Initialization

During the Shelby boot up sequence and device initialization, we now show a more accurate “Unknown” state until all of the data points have been evaluated reserving the “Offline” state for devices that were previously monitored and are now in an Offline state.

Streamlined Sync Service

Are you renewing your Shelby subscription? Whether connected to the internet or air-gapped, we have now made it easier to get your new license. Simply leave your Shelby connected to the internet to automatically sync your latest license or use the manual update process to get an update package and license. You no longer need to select the ‘Re-Sync My License Subscription’ checkbox!

FactoryTalk Analytics for Devices 1.7 Released

Shelby Device Profiles

We also improved our existing profiles in the release and added support for a few more! Shelby now has more accurate fault codes and numbers for PowerFlex 523/525, 753/755 and coverage for non-listed fault codes. The Historian ME fault information has been improved and we are now able to browse 1769 CompactLogix™ L32E and L36E Controllers!

Advanced Network Configuration

We have had multiple inquiries about configuring the second Ethernet port on Shelby. Customers have always been able to manually configure this port, but, previously, a cable needed to be plugged in to the port to confirm the settings had been applied. Now, Shelby supports configuration validation without the need to plug in your Ethernet port.

New Year’s Resolutions

In this release we focused on resolving anomalies reported by our customers as well as continually improving and adding to our device profiles. We closed out over multiple anomalies including addressing an issue where device configuration changed, and action cards that were no longer applicable remained, and another issue where manual search configuration would remove the incorrect IP address when selecting delete.

Link to Device’s Embedded Webpage

For devices known to contain an embedded webpage, there is now link to it on the Shelby dashboard of the device.

What happens if my subscription expires?

Shelby is subscription software. This model keeps the initial cost of Shelby low, but funds the team to continue to deliver new analytic value at a high pace. Everyone who buys a Shelby starts a 1-year (or more, if chosen at check-out) subscription, paid annually.

At the end of the subscription, customers can choose to renew, for another year or more, or let their subscription lapse. In this way, customers vote with their wallet: if they don’t see the value, they don’t have to pay for it.

A common question we get is: “What happens if I don’t renew?”

The answer is a progressive one. Initially, nothing will happen. Shelby won’t self destruct, or refuse to start, but it will notice that its paid license has expired, and enter a brief Grace period. While in this Grace mode, Shelby runs at full functionality, but without an active license. (The assumption being that customers may need some extra time to complete a renewal transaction.)

Once the grace period is over, Shelby will revert to an unlicensed mode. You can think of this like a “demo mode” where Shelby can still showing what it does, but its value is limited by lack of an active license.

In this mode, functionality is reduced: Shelby can still find devices and problems, but it won’t be able to describe the severity or detail of the problem until the subscription is renewed. Action Cards, both in the web client, and in TeamONE, will show a generic message, instead of providing problem details. Additionally, the built-in Historian runs in a 24-hour mode: instead of the up to 2 weeks that it normally stores, data is discarded daily.

Shelby can run in this unlicensed mode indefinitely. A customer can choose to keep Shelby online as a demo, or turn it off completely. If and when a customer decides they want to resume their subscription, they can purchase a new license on the Commerce Portal, and initiate a Sync from the Shelby to re-enable all functionality. During the sync, Shelby will get the latest and greatest analytic software, and a new activation to resume normal functionality.
